A practice grounded in kaitiakitanga, deep listening and relationship with the whenua, ngahere and mātauranga of Rongoā.

Rongoā at Soul Station

I am a kaitiaki for Rongoā and for the ngahere, while also remaining a tauira — always learning and deeply grateful for the mātauranga she has received through bush lore, bush healing and her ongoing relationship with the natural world.

My practice is grounded in listening: becoming quiet enough to notice what is present, and approaching the plant, mineral and animal kingdoms with respect for the mauri held within whenua and ngahere. For Janie, the kete of learning is never full; Rongoā remains an ongoing kete wānanga rather than knowledge that is ever simply completed.

In Bellingen, I offer support as a Rongoā practitioner and bodyworker through Kōhatu, Mirimiri and Romiromi. Each modality has its own character, while the wider practice remains grounded in connection, respect and individualised care.

A living practice of listening and connection

My Rongoā practice is shaped by relationship — with people, whakapapa, whenua, ngahere and the mātauranga she continues to learn from.

Kaitiakitanga

Care for Rongoā and the ngahere sits at the heart of how I understand my role and responsibilities.

Mātauranga

Learning is ongoing, I approach bush lore and traditional knowledge as a kete that is never simply full.

Deep listening

The practice begins with becoming quiet, attentive and responsive to what is present in the person and the wider environment.

Individualised care

Kōhatu, Mirimiri and Romiromi each provide a different pathway, with treatment shaped around the person receiving it.

Rongoā treatments in Bellingen

Rongoā at Soul Station is not a single fixed treatment. I currently offer several pathways in Bellingen, each with its own depth and way of working.

  • Kōhatu uses warmed stones to support grounding, warmth, connection and deep relaxation.
  • Mirimiri offers intuitive bodywork and energetic healing.
  • Romiromi provides deeper bodywork guided by deep listening, with breath, sound and traditional tools incorporated where appropriate.
  • Each treatment is individualised rather than delivered as a fixed routine.

Frequently asked questions

A little more about my Rongoā practice and current Bellingen treatments.

What shapes my Rongoā practice?

My practice is shaped by kaitiakitanga, ongoing learning, deep listening and relationship with the whenua, ngahere and mātauranga of Rongoā. I am both a kaitiaki and a tauira, recognising that the learning is never complete.

Which Rongoā treatments do I offer in Bellingen?

My current Bellingen pathways include Kōhatu, Mirimiri and Romiromi. Each has its own service page with more detailed information and booking options.

How do Kōhatu, Mirimiri and Romiromi differ?

Kōhatu centres on warmed stones, grounding and deep relaxation; Mirimiri is intuitive bodywork and energetic healing; and Romiromi is the deeper bodywork pathway, guided by deep listening and potentially incorporating breath, sound, kōhatu or rākau.

Is each treatment the same every time?

No. My work is individualised. The treatment responds to the person, what is present on the day and what the body is ready for rather than following one fixed routine.

Are Rongoā medicines available?

Rongoā medicines may be available at additional cost where appropriate. I can discuss this with you in relation to your care.
